Eduardo O. C. Chaves

Eduardo Chaves got his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh in 1972 and is presently Professor of Philosophy at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, SP, Brazil, where he has been for the past thirty years. He regularly teaches undergraduate courses on Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Education and graduate seminars in Logic and Epistemology.

Soon after going back to Brazil in 1974 he developed an abiding interest in Education: its nature, its objectives, and the best ways to promote it. For the past 25 years he has been studying the interactions between education and technology (both broadly conceived). In this area he has been a consultant to Microsoft and to the Ayrton Senna Foundation (a Brazilian NGO working in the area of education) for several years. He is a member of the International
Advisory Board of Microsoft’s Partners in Learning initiative.
