Alfred M. Sears presently serves in the Bahamas Parliament as the Member for Fort Charlotte and is Attorney-General and Minister of Education. He is a member of the New York, New Jersey, District of Columbia, Jamaica and The Bahamas Bars. Sears holds the Juris Doctor degree in Law from the New York Law School, M. Phil. degree in International Relations from Columbia's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Columbia College.

Minister Sears has worked as an Attorney with Justice Seymour Schwartz, Civil Court of Manhattan, New York and Berthan Macaulay, Q.C., Kingston, Jamaica. He has also written on an array of topics including Constitutional Reform, Human Rights, Ethics in Public Policy, Economic Development, International Affairs, Regional Politics, International Finance, and Bahamian Culture. Dr. Sears is married to attorney and poet Marion Bethel and has three children.
